Twitterati troll Anu Malik for copying his ‘Mera Mulk Mera Desh’ song as Israel’s National Anthem plays at Tokyo Olympics.

On Monday, Anu Malik was trolled by netizens on Twitter after he was accused of plagiarising Israel’s national anthem titled Hatikvah for his song ‘Mera Mulk Mera Desh’ from Ajay Devgn and Sonali Bendre’s 1996 film ‘Diljale’ after Artem Dolgopyat made history when he won Isreal’s first Olympics gymnastics gold and he was presented his medal, the country’s national anthem.

After Israeli gymnast, Artem Dolgopyat won a gold medal for his country at Tokyo Olympics and his country’s national anthem was played during the felicitation ceremony, netizens started accusing Anu Malik of copying music for his 1996 song Mera Mulk Mera Desh. On social media, netizens surmised that the Israeli national anthem sounded way too similar to Anu Malik’s 1996 track.

Many shared side by side comparisons of Anu Malik’s song and the national anthem and they found that there were just minor modifications in the Bollywood track. While some trolled the singer for plagiarising for his song, others shared hilarious memes.

One user wrote, “Anu Malik copying the national anthem of a country to make a Bollywood song is so Anu Malik!”

Another user wrote, “Bollywood should start Giving ‘Best Music Copying’ awards. 80-90% Bollywood will be in Competition. Anu Malik will end up getting ‘Lifetime Achievement award for copying’.”

And, one netizen tweeted, “No it is not just you. 100% true. I can’t get over it. Anu Malik actually copied the Israeli national anthem for one of his songs! Utha le re baba.” Check out more tweets below.
