Jan suffered serious injuries in the incident and was shifted to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
A senior police officer while confirming the incident said, ” Khushboo was fired upon by suspected militants at her home. She was working as an SPO in the department.”
The incident has come amid reports of ceasefire violation by the Pakistan forces since the morning. In the afternoon, the ceasefire was violated in the Mankote sector of Poonch district to which the Indian Army has been retaliating effectively. After the dastardly Pulwama attack, tension in the valley has increased significantly. At least 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives in the cowardly atttack.
India responded to the attack on February 26 with the Indian Air Force carrying out air strikes across the Line of Control targeting Jaish-e-Mohammed camps. However, the constant sound of fighter jets and helicopters over the entire state gave many people sleepless nights. From both the sides, there has been a sizable increase in the armed forces in the bordering state.
